His motivation stems from deep concerns about President Biden’s leadership, particularly in the aftermath of the fall of Afghanistan.

Harrigan, a West Point graduate, expressed his dismay, emphasizing the urgency for effective leadership in Washington.

“I’m incredibly concerned for the future of our country… We have to go to Washington and make some change and make it very quickly, or this world is going to devolve into a place that I don’t think any American has ever truly experienced,” Harrigan declared.

A Soldier’s Perspective on Afghanistan

Drawing from his experiences as a Green Beret, Harrigan shed light on the gravity of the situation in Afghanistan.

His deployment in the Arghandab Valley allowed him to witness the complexities of combat firsthand, providing him with a unique “leadership perspective.”

According to him, America’s strategic interests play a crucial role in securing the American way of life, and he believes it’s time for a more effective approach.

“We’ve done a terrible job of doing that in the last 20 years.”

“I thnk we can do it much, much better. And I think… that when America fails to lead, the world burns, and, boy, the world is burning today,” Harrigan asserted.

The Need for Veterans in Congress

Harrigan stresses the necessity for veterans to play a prominent role in Congress.

He laments the current lack of principled leaders with military experience and highlights the stark contrast to the post-World War II era when a majority of Congress members had served in the military.

According to Harrigan, having veterans at the helm is crucial for steering the nation in the right direction.

“We just need principled leaders of character to return to Congress. We need veterans to return to Congress,” he emphasized.

From the Battlefield to the Business World

Transitioning from the military to civilian life, Harrigan’s journey included establishing a small firearms business, initially operated out of a double-wide trailer home.

His wife played a pivotal role in the growth of the business, which now operates from a 120,000-square-foot facility, producing about 1,000 guns weekly.

Harrigan’s success story highlights the importance of favorable government conditions and an economic system that fosters individual success.

“My own small business story was a testament to the conditions that are set by the right frame of government, an economic system that allows people to go out and create their own success stories,” he explained.

Election Priorities: A Focus on the Southern Border

If elected, Harrigan’s priority is addressing the crisis at the southern border.

He echoes former President Trump’s stance on border security, emphasizing the urgent need for a substantial barrier to safeguard domestic security.

Harrigan is vocal about the importance of protecting the nation and calls for immediate action to close the southern border.

“That southern border needs to close immediately… We have 300,000 people a month coming across that border.”

“We do not know who they are. We do not know what their intentions are.”

“We know that we have dozens and dozens and dozens of folks on the terrorist watch list who have just walked across our leaky southern border, and that’s got to stop,” he asserted.

Challenges in the Republican Primary

Harrigan faces stiff competition in the crowded Republican primary field, including candidates like state Rep. Grey Mills Jr., activist Brooke McGowan, entrepreneur Charles Eller, and nurse Diana Jimison.

The primary winner is poised to replace Rep. Patrick McHenry, given the district’s conservative-leaning.

As Harrigan navigates the campaign trail, his focus on leadership, veterans’ representation, and securing the nation’s borders remains at the forefront.

Will his unique background and perspective resonate with voters in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District? Only time will tell as the election unfolds.
